Windsor Bow-Back Settee NH White Pine, Oak, and Birch
41" high, 46" wide, 18" deep

The original antiques of this Windsor style are highly prized for their rarity, as well as their beauty and comfort. To duplicate the beauty of antique Windsors, we have used an antique green milk paint over red: then we've added a light coat of crackle, subtle pin-striping and antique glazing; then, as final embellishments, we have added mild distressing, finishing off with typical worn areas.

Straw Hill Chairs was started in the mid-1980's by Roger W. Scheffer, who after a career in public school teaching, moved to New Hampshire with his wife and family.

While in New Hampshire, he restored many antique windsors for an antique dealer and became intrigued with the design and construction of windsors, as well as their history. This led to the creation of Straw Hill Chairs. Several years later, as business grew, his son, Peter, and then later yet, his daughter and son-in-law, Cate and Greg Chicoine, and his grandson, Daniel Scheffer, joined him in building windsor chairs.

Their chairs are beautiful, comfortable and durable, with all the parts made and assembled in their shop in West Unity, New Hampshire.

Windsor Comb-Back Rocking Chair NH White Pine, Oak, and Birch
431" high, 24" wide, 18" deep

To achieve the apearance of a lovely antique, we began by using the woods that were typically used for that period of Windsor: then adding a finish of antique blue milk paint over red; then adding subtle pin-striping, antique glazing and moderated distressing, accenting typically worn areas.
